Colombian Nairo Quintana was banned from this year’s Tour de France after testing positive for two anti-doping tests during the race, according to the UCI. He was sixth overall.
According to a French newspaper, runner Arkéa Samsic has been accused of using tramadol, a pain reliever that was placed on the UCI banned substances list in 2019.
Quintana, who has 10 days to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, tested positive in tests conducted on 8 and 13 July. On the first, stage 7, he was 15th upon arrival at La Super Planche des Belles Filles; in the second, in heat 11 of the race, he finished second at the Col du Granon.
According to the UCI, since this is the first offense, the rider is not suspended and can continue to compete.
