The first classic of the season raises high hopes among Porto fans. And there is already confidence that Dragao’s game with Sporting for the championship on Saturday will be sold out.
This Wednesday, in the middle of the day, the champion of the country announced that a little more than 1,200 tickets were not enough for the meeting with his rival Alvalade. FC Porto is due to announce a full house this Thursday, meaning there will be around 50,000 fans on Dragao. The fact that it is now August, when many expats are returning to Portugal for holidays, has increased the demand for tickets, which cost between 15 and 50 euros. This Thursday, Sporting put up for sale 2,500 match tickets (single price 31 euros), which should fly out of the Alvalade box office in the near future. In the first league game against Maritimo, there were 46,309 spectators at the Porto Stadium watching a 5-1 rout.
After two wins in the first two league matches, Sergio Conceição wants to keep the winning path at home and thus increase the advantage of the opponent from Lisbon, who already lost points in Braga. In this sense, the support of the public is very important for the coach of the blue and white to lead the team to a positive result.
If that happens, Sergio Conceição will maintain his unblemished record against Sporting in the league: in 10 games since joining in 2017, he has never tasted defeat (4 triumphs and six draws). Conceição has played five games in a head-to-head tie with Rubén Amorim for the title (he took over the technical command of Sporting in March 2020). Won one and tied the remaining four.
Middleweight duo recovering
Matheus Uribe and Marko Grujic have almost recovered from the physical problems that arose in the last game with Wisela, and Sergio Conceição will bet on the classics. As for the last eleven, Otavio instead of Namaso should be the only change in the game against Sporting.
