Tragic death of a young female boxer: The 18-year-old Mexican was hit in the head so badly in a fight in Montreal that she died five days later.
The 18-year-old boxer Jeanette Zacarias Zapata from Mexico died five days after a fight. The young woman died on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. (local time) from the serious head injuries she suffered on Saturday evening in a duel against Marie-Pier Houle (31) from Canada at the Stade IGA in Montreal. This was announced by the organizer, Yvon Michel.
Artificial coma didn’t help
Zapata had taken several serious head hits towards the end of the fourth round. The referee then stopped the fight. The 18-year-old began to cramp in the ring before she was taken to a hospital. There the doctors put her into an artificial coma, but the injuries were too severe and she died.
