Barca originally signed the defensive man in January 2019 for twelve million euros from Atletico Mineiro of Brazil, only to transfer him directly to Real Betis for six million euros.

In Seville he immediately developed into a top performer and has so far played 79 competitive games for the club (five goals, ten assists).
