Coach Manfred Schmid’s team won 2-1 (1-1) in Wolfsberg on Sunday after trailing 1-0. The goals for the “Violets” were scored by ex-LASK player Andreas Gruber (36th) and “Joker” Marco Djuricin (65th). Before that, Thorsten Röcher had given the hosts the lead (16′). Bad luck for Wolfsberg: defender Dominik Baumgartner had to be replaced after 16 minutes after feeling a stab in his thigh.
Referee apologized
In Salzburg’s 2-0 win over Klagenfurt, referee Josef Spurny apologized after the game for not giving a hand for the Klagenfurt team. “I didn’t notice the handball. Since the offense happened on the penalty line, it would have been a penalty.” It was doubly bitter that the VAR did not correct the obvious wrong decision either.
The 2-1 win by Austria Lustenau in the first Bundesliga derby in 22 years against Altach was really explosive. Teixeira shot the visitors to victory in the 89th minute. Altach’s Upper Austrian striker Atdhe Nuhiu saw yellow-red in the 92nd minute and is therefore suspended in Vorarlberg’s next game against LASK.
