On Monday, Manchester United weathered the crisis and beat Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford, thus scoring their first points in this edition of the Premier League on the third round.
The game was marked by the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench, from where he left with just five minutes left in the game. In addition, coach Eric ten Hag made a small revolution, leaving aside other regulars such as Maguire, Fred and Luke Shaw.
So beyond the four lines, Cristiano Ronaldo saw his team take the lead in the 16th minute thanks to Jadon Sancho after a great individual run in Liverpool’s zone. Before this move, the Red Devils could already have taken the lead when Rashford hit the post after a help from Bruno Fernandes. The midfielder of the Portuguese national team showed good results both in defense and in attack. Dalot was also in the starting lineup.
United extended their lead in the 53rd minute with Rashford, who this time did not disappoint. From that point on, Liverpool took over the cost of the game. Without Darwin (disqualified) or Diogo Jota (injured), the foreign team made several dangerous moves, in the dynamics of which the Portuguese Fabio Carvalho integrated well from the 73rd minute. And 81′ Salah was reduced. But it was too late.
CR7 entered the phase where Manchester held the result. The Devils moved up to 14th in the standings, while Liverpool dropped to 16th.
