David Beckham: Son Romeo signs first professional contract with Fort Lauderdale CF.

Father David was a world star. Son Romeo Beckham is not quite that far, but at least he has now signed his first professional contract.

Romeo Beckham, son of Manchester United legend David Beckham, has signed his first professional contract. The 19-year-old will play for Fort Lauderdale CF, who will play in the third highest US division (USL League One).

Fort Lauderdale has not yet officially confirmed Romeo Beckham’s commitment, but the player himself reported the message on his Instagram profile. In his bio he added “Footballer at @fortlauderdalecf”. He also posted a picture with the signature “Follow Your Dreams”, under which his mother Victoria expressed the pride of the family in a comment.

Fort Lauderdale, meanwhile, is Inter Miami’s unofficial reserve team. The MLS club is known to be owned by Romeo’s father David Beckham, the former world-class midfielder also serves as the club’s president.

Miami uses Fort Lauderdale as a springboard for young players, including Romeo Beckham and another son of a United legend: Harvey Neville, the offspring of today’s Inter Miami coach Phil Neville, also kicks there.
