This Wednesday, Porto expressed their regret over the death of one of their former players and one of the top scorers in the club’s history, Carlos Duarte. The former striker died on Tuesday at the age of 89.

He represented Portugal seven times, managed to score against England and received applause at Wembley. In 1959, he suffered a knee injury and moved to the Lakes in the final stretch of his career. In 2003, he received the Golden Dragon with the Memory of the Year award.

“FC Porto sympathizes with family and friends and expresses their deepest condolences,” the club said in a statement.
