Police arrest a spectator who caused a mass fall at the Tour de France

With a cardboard sign, a spectator brought down the majority of the Tour de France driver field. Now the woman has been found – and arrested by the police.

The viewer, who caused a mass crash on the opening day of the Tour de France, was arrested according to the French radio station and is on remand. She caused a big shock at the beginning of this year’s top bike race: with a cardboard sign, the thoughtless spectator triggered a pile-up on the first stage last Saturday.

Spectator is in custody

The organizers of the Tour de France took legal action after the incident, whereupon the French police opened an investigation. After the public search for witnesses, the viewer responsible for the fall could be identified and, according to information from RTL, is now in police custody in Landerneau (Brittany). She is accused of inadvertently caring for injuries. You must expect a fine of 1500 euros.

The woman had positioned herself around 45 kilometers from the finish line with a cardboard sign on the edge of the route to cheer on the drivers. In doing so, however, she did not pay attention to the fact that her shield was sticking out onto the street. Tony Martin, German driver for the Jumbo Visma team, stumbled and fell. Dozens of drivers behind him could no longer avoid them.
