The northern Italian club is courting Sturm Graz striker Rasmus Höjlund, reported the sports daily “Tuttosport” (Thursday edition).
Atalanta have already raised the offer for Höjlund twice, increasing it to €12m after Sturm Graz rejected the Lombards’ offer.
The 19-year-old Dane is considered the preferred candidate of Atalanta’s coach Gian Piero Gasperini. However, Atalanta will have to deal with competition from Club Brugge, who are also interested in Höjlund and want to bid up to 15 million euros for the player, Tuttosport reported.
After the separation from the German defender Robin Gosens, who switched to Inter Milan, Atalanta is looking for a replacement. Stuttgart’s Croatian player with German citizenship Borna Sosa is also a candidate, the newspaper reported.
