Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench: Time is running out to find a new club

Cristiano Ronaldo still has to live with being just a substitute at Manchester United. Coach Erik ten Hag let him stew on the bench for an hour again. Apparently, the superstar can’t find a club that wants to sign him.

Things are getting increasingly frustrating for Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United. Once again, the superstar was only on the bench and came on for Jadon Sancho in the game against Southampton in the 68th minute. His team led 1-0 and that result stayed the same. It was the second win in a row after two defeats at the start of the Premier League season. With six points, the traditional club has improved into the upper middle of the table after four matchdays. In both wins, Ronaldo sat on the bench.

Time is running out for the superstar to find a new club. The transfer period runs until September 1st and so far no club has been found that would like to sign Ronaldo. His agent, Jorge Mendes, tried hard to get his client hired by other top European clubs, but to no avail. The high salary and sporting arguments have so far spoken against it. Chelsea FC, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and other clubs declined with thanks.

Coach ten Hag has no regard for big names like Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester’s new manager Erik ten Hag has no regard for big names in the team. Captain Harry Maguire and Casemiro, signed by Real Madrid for 70 million euros, were not in the starting XI against Southampton. It is certain that ten Hag was (and is) very annoyed by Ronaldo’s change activities. During the week he is said to have made an announcement to the team: Anyone who does not agree with his philosophy can leave. He has the full support of the club management.

How things will continue with Ronaldo is open. The probability that he will find a club that meets his requirements is low. The superstar demands a high salary and the new team should play in the Champions League. Ronaldo is said to have some endorsement deals that only guarantee him income if he plays in the premier club.

Ten Hag made it clear that he will continue to bench Ronaldo. That’s a problem for both the coach and Ronaldo. At the moment there doesn’t seem to be a solution for this.
