A setback in Córdoba: Racing could not hold the advantage and the fight moves away

The Mario Alberto Kempes stadium was the scene of the meeting, to which Racing arrived with the intention of adding three to not lose track of the Tucumans, but his lack of aim and a certain drop in tension led him to only get one point.

Carlos Alcaráz opened the scoring for Racing in the first half, while Colombian Diego Valoyes, in the second half, tied the team from Cordoba, who showed many shortcomings from the middle up throughout the match.

Racing stopped with a line of four, a double five with Aníbal Moreno and Jonathan Gómez, associated with Alcaraz and Nicolás Oroz to open up the defense and feed Gabriel Hauche and Enzo Copetti.

For his part, the Portuguese Pedro Caixinha put together a line of four, a double five with the Ecuadorian Alan Franco and Rodrigo Villagra, and tried to open the court with Valoyes and Francisco Pizzini, but without a reference 9.

Racing began with its usual recipe of control of the ball, vertigo in the opening minutes to make Guido Herrera work, but suffering from the lack of definition of its forwards, especially Copetti, who cannot guarantee the standard of goals necessary to transcend in the local league.

At 12′ Hauche, who had already thrown a header at Herrera’s hands, received a long deep pass with the Talleres defense open and quickly shot it into the middle at Copetti’s feet, who missed it in front of the Cordovan goalkeeper.

The “Academy” continued to have the leading role and minutes later Herrera covered a clear shot by Oroz, since the visitors continued to take advantage of how open the local defense was.

Talleres tidied up the defense, closed edges and their midfielders began to recover the ball but that attitude did not translate into arrivals at the rival goal, and the secure Gabriel Arias continued to be a spectator.

At 35 minutes, Mura positioned himself in the 8th lane and put in a precise cross to the point of the penalty that Alcaraz pushed into the goal, scoring the first goal of the game. Racing went to halftime calmly, since they only had to keep up the pace and improve their aim, against a Talleres team that looked harmless and lost on the field of play.

Returning to the second half, Copetti had another opportunity but it was conjured up again by Herrera and seconds later the goalkeeper avoided the second goal by rejecting a play orchestrated by Hauche, Copetti and Moreno.

In a very dizzying start, Godoy received the ball at the door of the Racing area, he dribbled but Orbán cut it off with a foul and Fernando Echenique charged a penalty. The Colombian Valoyes exchanged it for a goal against the expert penalty saver Arias, who chose another club.

Racing was clouded by the goal and Talleres came out to beautify her. Buffarini shot a low cross with great precision that Ortregoza kicked over the crossbar, taking advantage of the Racinguista confusion.

Just after 17 minutes, Alcaraz fired a commitment shot and managed to make Herrera work, who had been a privileged witness for several minutes.

Feeling that he was left out of the fight for the tournament, Gago threw the youthful Román Fernández, just 16 years old, and also the Colombian Edwin Cardona into the field in an attempt to resort to his punch to surprise the rival.

The match was lost between the lack of clarity of Racing to attack and the total lack of offensive vocation on the part of Workshops and the result left the Academy conditioned in its aspirations to fight for the tournament.
