Verstappen won in Spa after catching up in front of Perez

The 24-year-old Dutchman drove the Red Bull in the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday after catching up from 14th on the grid without any danger to his ninth win of the season. Verstappen won clearly ahead of his Mexican team-mate Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari, which started from pole.

In the overall standings, Verstappen is almost inexorably marching towards the second world title. After 14 of the 22 races of the season, the advantage is already a comfortable 93 points over Perez, who climbed to second place in the ranking after the fourth Red Bull double victory of the year. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who, like Verstappen, started after moving back from grid position 15, finished fifth and is already 96 points behind.
