“Sotiris Alexandropoulos is the latest signing of the main football club Sporting. The 20-year-old Greek midfielder joined Alvalade from Panathinaikos and signed a contract until 2027 with a release clause of 60 million euros. Sporting, ”the message posted on the official website says.
Alexandropoulos is gearing up for his first experience outside of his country as he has spent his entire career in the historic Greek emblem, which features Portuguese António Xavier, former Maritimo player Pacos de Ferreira, among others.
The midfielder made his Panathinaikos first team debut at just 17 years old in 2019 and has since played 77 games and scored twice for the Athens club.
Despite his youth, Alexandropoulos has already been called up to the Greek national team, with five caps to his credit, two of them in recent Nations League fixtures in June against Cyprus and Kosovo.
Three days before the closing of the transfer market, Sporting guarantee a strengthening of the midfield, which was most recently the orphan of the undisputed Matheus Nunez, who moved to the English from Wolverhampton two weeks ago.
