On Tuesday, the GNR announced that it had opened disciplinary proceedings against a military officer at the Gafete post in the municipality of Crato (Portalegre), arrested for driving a Guarda car while intoxicated, involved in a collision with another vehicle, in that area.

In response to a question from Lusa about the case, GNR Communications and Public Affairs explained that the Gáfete Post military was arrested last Thursday at 00:30 on a charge of 1.95 grams per liter of blood alcohol. .

The GNR also indicated that the military was involved in a collision between a military vehicle and a civilian vehicle, in an accident in the village of Crato, which resulted in “material damage only”.

The case was reported by Correio da Manhã this weekend under the headline “GNR arrested after being charged with 1.95 g / l of alcohol in a car accident.”

The newspaper reported that the “soldier was on duty” and after the accident was subjected to an alcohol test by the GNR patrol, which dealt with the incident.

After checking the soldiers for alcohol in the explanations provided to Luce, the NNR explained that all legal formalities regarding the detention of the military had been completed.

And this one, after preparing the file, was “exempted from the service being performed.”

In addition to the disciplinary proceedings initiated by the GNR, the facts were referred to the Portalegre Court.

Last Friday, the GNR announced that it had opened another internal disciplinary process against a 21-year-old soldier from Nisa Post, also in the Portalegre district, who was arrested for insubordination and disobedience on the 15th of this month after reporting to the Anti-Alcohol Office and reported the facts to the Department of Investigation and Criminal Affairs (DIAP).

The serviceman’s detention occurred “after he reported to the patrol service between 08:00 and 16:00, stating that his blood alcohol level was 1.19 g/l, confirmed by a quantitative device,” he himself can read in clarification of the GNR.

According to the GNR, “the soldier, upon seeing the result of the test in question, behaved inappropriately, changed and attempted to destroy the evidence, namely the registration and the result of the alcohol test”, and was “detained for the crime of insubordination and disobedience to his hierarchical superiors.”

“He was taken to the postal cell, having taken off his uniform, for security reasons,” the guard added.
