LASK and SV Guntamatic Ried got in the mood for the Bundesliga derby on Sunday (5 p.m.) in Pasching with nail-biter games and a happy ending. For both clubs, the chapter of the ÖFB Cup would have been almost closed in the second round against third-class clubs, but with energetic performances and nerves of steel the tide was turned. LASK came 4-1 after extra time at the fifth in the Regionalliga West, SC Imst, after a 0-1 deficit. Rieder kept the upper hand against WSC Hertha in Wels 4:2 (1:2) after catching a 0:2 mortgage in the 41st minute. In the end, the class prevailed.
The nail-biting game at LASK, which Alexander Schmidt is likely to transfer to FC Vizela (Por), does not go unnoticed. Because defender Philipp Ziereis will be missed in the derby, the German paid dearly for his carelessness as the last man, he saw red (goal robbery / 62nd) and is therefore suspended on Sunday. Of course, it would have been worse after the 0:1 (72nd) looming end of the cup, but “Joker” Keito Nakamura prevented it. The Japanese saved LASK late with the 1:1 in the 86th minute in extra time, in which he was also supposed to make it 3:1 (104th). The other goals went to Florian Flecker (94′) and Marin Ljubicic (118′).
“We made it difficult for ourselves, too often a step was missing in the first half,” analyzed LASK trainer Dietmar Kühbauer. “But it speaks to the morale of the team that they came back and ultimately deservedly won.” Incidentally, before the break Robert Zulj had afforded the luxury of chasing a penalty into the evening sky (43′).
At SV Ried, too, the relief at making it into the round of 16 was great. “I’m glad we got over this cup battle,” said coach Christian Heinle after an intense fight in which Welser Hertha led 2-0 through goals from Lukas Ried (sic!) and Hector Galiano (41st). would have. But the “Vikings” never gave up, Julian Wießmeier (43rd, 79th), Christoph Monschein (55th) and Leo Mikic (93rd) made the turnaround perfect. Hertha weakened when the score was 2: 2 because Ried saw red after a brutal foul (72nd).
At that point, Oliver Kragl (32) was in the car, the return of the German all-rounder to SV Ried (after seven years in Italy) should be perfect today. Fixed is the loan engagement of storm striker Luca Kronberger (the OÖN reported exclusively), left-back Felix Seiwald is loaned to Vienna.
