Porto have reached an agreement with Portimonense to sign Samuel Portugal. The 28-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper has been chosen by SAD as Diogo Costa’s shadow, although Sergio Conceição preferred Famalicao’s Luis Junior.
An important condition for the Porto coach is to work with four goalkeepers: three experienced elements who can join the team at any time, and youngsters from the team, free from pressure, so that he has time to develop. After the departure of Marquesin, Conceição reiterated to SAD that a goalkeeper needed to be hired to draw up a range of options with Diogo Costa and Claudio Ramos.
O CM knows that Luis Junior from the first moment becomes the favorite of the coach. Conceição didn’t change her mind, it’s just that the Famalican goalkeeper is very expensive. Minho’s team didn’t turn down the €10 million even because of the progression of the 21-year-old goalkeeper.
Porto SAD waited to see if Famalican would lower the requirements – even because Claudio Ramos gave guarantees in case Diogo Costa was unavailable – but in the end abandoned the technique’s priority goal and moved on to the second hypothesis.
28-year-old Samuel Portugal was valued at €5m by Portimonense, but Porto didn’t want to go beyond €4m. The Algarve agreed to receive this amount immediately, keeping 10% of the future sale – they bet that the player would be transferred for 10 million euros in the future, thus intending to receive the missing million for the said 5 million euros.
“I did not attach much importance to Porto
“I saw on social media that something came out of Porto, but I didn’t attach much importance to it. I asked my agent if this was true or false and he said it was true. I asked him to take care of the situation because I was focused here on Atlético Mineiro and that he would decide my future. I am very happy to be here. I have a head here,” Zaracho said this Wednesday. The 24-year-old Argentine is one of the midfielders selected by Sergio Conceição to boost Porto’s midfield, but the 20 million requested by the Brazilian club thwarted the deal.
Cut out three Champions League athletes
With the signing of Samuel Portugal, Porto now have 27 players in their Champions League A squad, while they can only sign 24. Sergio Conceição has to cut three.
Nakajima with the future still open
During the talks about Samuel Portugal, the situation with Nakajima was discussed again. Porto wants the Japanese out for good, but Portimonense is unwilling to invest.
