Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo is in great demand, with Arsenal making an official offer in transfer poker. Juventus is also interested.
Sassuolo boss Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed an official offer from Premier League club Arsenal for midfielder Manuel Locatelli. A timely decision is, however, not to be expected.
“Arsenal have made an official offer for Locatelli,” Carnevali said Sky Sport Italy. “They’re pushing to sign Manuel and it’s an important offer. We’ll see.”
The 23-year-old has so far played a strong European Championship with Italy, where they face Belgium in the quarter-finals on Friday. His contract with Sassuolo runs until 2023, and it is unlikely that he will remain there beyond the summer.
Also Juventus and Locatelli in it
“Juventus also want Locatelli and we have a special relationship with them. We have planned a new meeting with Juve,” said Carnevali, confirming another interested party in Locatelli.
The focus is initially clearly on the Italian national team. “We’re trying to leave the boy alone, so I haven’t spoken to him or his agents yet,” Carnevali said.
“We can think about Locatelli’s future, but most of all we care about his present and that means Italy is doing well at the European Championship,” added the CEO.
In addition to Arsenal and Juventus, Locatelli has also been associated with Borussia Dortmund in the past. The transfer fee for the midfielder should be around 45 million euros.
