Amorim says journalists can ask him questions ‘as they see fit’

Sports coach Rubén Amorim said today that journalists can ask him questions “at their discretion” and considered that the process opened by the Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) is a “regulatory” matter.

“This is something that is beyond my understanding. You can ask questions however you want, I just answer what I want. start of the press conference in Alcochet.

Initially, the coach was asked about the process brought up by a SportTV journalist, due to a question he was asked in the quick interview area at the end of the match against Desportivo de Chavez.

At the end of the press conference, again faced with a problem, namely the reaction of the government, Amorim once again regretted that he had deviated from the “essence of games” and returned to the regulations.

“If it is regulated, then, obviously, sometimes we have to follow it, because there are regulations. Whether that makes sense or not, I don’t know, because it’s none of my business. For me, the questions are irrelevant. [jornalistas] They can ask what they want, and I will always answer what I want,” he concluded.

We are talking about a lawsuit filed on August 30 after a journalist from the SportTV channel asked in the quick interview zone after the match between Sporting CP and Desportivo de Chaves (0:2) in the First Football League a question about the Lions coach Ruben Amorim is “out of the context of the game that has just ended,” the Union of Journalists explained in a statement Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Minister of Culture Pedro Adão e Silva assured that he was following the decision of the FPF to initiate a disciplinary case against a SportTV journalist “with great concern”, stressing that it restricts freedom, and asked the Federation’s Disciplinary Council to reconsider its position. .

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Union of Journalists also called the trial against the SportTV journalist an “encroachment on the freedom of the press.”

The Sports Journalists’ Association (CNID) also considered the case against the journalist “absurd”, arguing that journalists “cannot be scrutinized by any board of any federation or league, or by any club.”

For its part, FPF CD also explained in a statement on Wednesday that “it is obliged to impose summary sanctions or initiate disciplinary proceedings when it becomes aware of a disciplinary offence,” adding that the data was provided in the official match report, held in Lisbon on 27 August.
