Portugal beat Poland on their debut at the European Under-19 Championship.

Portugal made their debut this Sunday at the European Under-19 Futsal Championship, beating Poland 4-2, with Furtado’s encore in the Spanish city of Jaén.

At the Olivo Arena at the start of Group B, Furtado opened the scoring two minutes later, but Rol equalized again in the 14th minute, returning Poland to the fight for victory.

Tomas Colasu gave the Portuguese team a new edge at 24, Furtado widened the gap shortly after at 25 and Catchi left the Portuguese team one step away from triumph. Rol scored again for Poland, scoring 32, but the result did not change until the end.

Portugal and Poland were semi-finalists at the last European Championship held in 2019 in Latvia, but both did not qualify for the final.

In another Group B match, France and Italy are still playing today.

Portugal will play again on Monday against France and will end this phase on Tuesday with a clash with Italy.

In Group A, Spain (current champions), Ukraine, Croatia and Romania. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals. The semi-finals are scheduled for 8 September and the final will take place on 10 September.
