Thomas Müller – sometimes a match winner, sometimes unlucky. At this year’s European Championships, the latter is more likely to be the case. The 31-year-old striker in the service of FC Bayern Munich missed a big chance in the round of 16 against England in the 81st minute when he ran up to goalkeeper Jordan Pickford alone and finally pushed the ball just past the goal from a good 16 meters. It could have been the 1: 1 equalization, if not at all.
But Thomas Müller was denied his first goal at the EM 2021 – yes, even his first goal at a European Championship! Because of his 39 goals in 106 games in the DFB jersey, the offensive man has not scored a single one at a European Championship finals. And that with three tournaments since 2012 and a total of 15 appearances.

But the bottom line is: There are two Thomas Müller in the national team: the hapless EM Müller and the successful WM Müller. The 31-year-old doesn’t have an explanation for this either, but it still annoys him that he couldn’t polish up his record in the last European Championship game.
