Chelsea loan Callum Hudson-Odoi makes his starting XI debut for the Werkself in Bayer Leverkusen’s first Champions League group game at Club Brugge.
The England international, who had only been signed the previous week, was ordered into the first eleven by coach Gerardo Seoane after his promising substitute appearance in the league game against SC Freiburg (2-3).
As in the previous two Bundesliga games, Seoane relies on a three-man and five-man defense for the Belgian champions. In total, the Swiss coach made four changes. In addition to Hudson-Odoi, Piero Hincapié and Mitchell Bakker, who were suspended against Freiburg, and ex-captain Charles Aranguiz also joined the team in defensive midfield. They replace Edmond Tapsoba, Exequiel Palacio, Daley Sinkgraven and Kerem Demirbay.
