Premier League postpones more matches due to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral

English football’s governing body had already postponed all of last weekend’s matches out of respect for the longest-serving monarch in the history of the game. United Kingdomwho died at his home in Scotland on September 8 at the age of 96.

“Seven of this weekend’s 10 Premier League games will be played, with three games postponed due to events surrounding the queen’s funeral.”said the premier league it’s a statement.

“Following extensive consultation with the clubs, the police, local security advisory groups and other relevant authorities, there was no other option…for matches played during the period of National Mourning, they will surrender tributes to the queen in the stadiums of the Premier League”he added.

The Man Utd said his match was postponed because Greater Manchester Police are “supporting forces across the UK at major venues and events” after the death of the Queen. New dates for the rearranged matches will be announced in due course, the league added.

FA AND EFL MATCHES RESUME

The English Football Association (FA) and the English Football League (EFL) reported that the matches will resume from Tuesday, after the last day was postponed by the death of the Queen last week.

The EFL said on Monday that tributes will be paid to the queen in stadiums across England. “There will be a minute of silence before games, officers will wear black armbands, flags will fly at half-staff and the National Anthem will be played in the stadiums.”he noted in a statement.

The group stage match of the Europe League on Thursday between Arsenal and the PSV Eindhoven was postponed due to the lack of adequate security personnel in London.
