After players like Kimmich and coach Nagelsmann switched from RB to Bayern, unsightly scenes were expected. The police took action.

At the top Bundesliga match between RB Leipzig and FC Bayern Munich, fans of the home side took on former Leipzig Joshua Kimmich and coach Julian Nagelsmann with a banner. Meanwhile, there were arguments between spectators and stewards in the Bayern fans’ block, and the police had to intervene.

In the first half, the Leipzig fans unfurled a banner against Kimmich and ex-coach Nagelsmann with the words: “@Joshua, Julian. Rub your hands and laugh. You never made a name for yourself here anyway!”

Kimmich (26) played in Leipzig from 2013 to 2015 and then moved to Bayern. Nagelsmann had made his way to Munich that summer.

He went into the game “with full anticipation and don’t shiver if a few people whistle. Even if there are 34,000,” he said at the press conference on Friday.

In the second half there were also tumultuous scenes in the guest block of the Bayern fans: Because they had arguments with the stewards, some police officers came in, but left the block shortly afterwards. After a total of twelve minutes, the situation calmed down.
