Van Gaal is being discussed as De Boer’s successor

After the EM knockout in the round of 16, Frank de Boer made his job available. Now Louis van Gaal is being traded as his successor.

Louis van Gaal is under discussion as the Dutch national coach. The newspaper reports De Volkskrant. Accordingly, the 69-year-old is a serious candidate to succeed Frank de Boer, who had made his job available after the Netherlands dropped out of the European Championship in the round of 16.

According to the report, van Gaal is not averse to assuming the post a third time. He had actually announced the end of his career as a coach two years ago, but the re-entry at Oranje could irritate the ex-coach of, among others, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Manchester United.

Third term for van Gaal at Oranje?

Van Gaal had already looked after the Netherlands between 2000 and 2002 and then returned in 2012. At the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, he and his team finally finished third.

De Boer and his team suffered a 2-0 draw against the Czech Republic after three wins in the preliminary group at the European Championships and were eliminated with Oranje in the round of 16.
