Sebastián Villa’s trial was suspended at the request of the defense

The measure was adopted by the Correctional Court 2 of Lomas de Zamora, in charge of Claudia Dávalos, who agreed to a request from the footballer’s defense attorney, Martín Apolo, and ordered that a new psychological expertise be carried out on Daniela Cortés, the complainant.

In this way, the oral debate, whose hearings were to take place next week, between September 19 and 21, was suspended pending the result of the expert opinion, lawyer Apolo confirmed to Télam.

Villa arrived at the trial accused of the crime of “slight injuries aggravated by the bond and for mediating gender violence and coercive threats” against his ex-partner Daniela Cortés.

According to the spokespersons, in this case a Provincial Correctional Court will intervene because it is a crime that provides for a sentence of up to six years in prison.

There, the events that occurred on April 27, 2020, days after the start of isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be aired in the house shared by Villa and his ex, in the private neighborhood of Saint Thomas, in the town of Canning, where he lived. before moving to country “Venado II”, in which the second episode of gender violence allegedly took place in June 2021 for which he was denounced by another woman.

The Colombian striker and figure of Boca Juniors, who remains free, was criminally denounced in April 2020 by his ex-partner Daniela Cortés, who spread images through social networks.

The plaintiff Fernando Burlando then explained that the woman filed a complaint with the Esteban Echeverría prosecutor’s office number 3 specializing in Gender Violence, in charge of Vanesa González and her deputy Verónica Pérez, in which he was accused of “threats, violence from gender and injuries and an approach restriction was requested.”

For this reason, the Justice of Lomas de Zamora issued a ban on leaving the country, judicial sources confirmed to Télam.

Cortés, also Colombian and who was then a partner of the player, released a video with images of her visibly beaten and also recounted violent events experienced next to the soccer player, whom she described as “an abuser, both physically and psychologically.”

In June 2021, the Criminal Chamber of Lomas de Zamora confirmed the trial of that case at the request of the Judge of Guarantees of that district Javier Maffucci Moore, the same one who intervenes in the second case of gender violence involving the soccer player.
