According to Markus Babbel, Hasan Salihamidzic would have liked to keep Ivan Perisic and Philippe Coutinho beyond their loans at Bayern Munich.
The former Bayern defender Markus Babbel has with Sport1 reveal that his ex-teammate and current FCB sports director Hasan Salihamidzic would have liked to have signed Ivan Perisic and Philippe Coutinho.
“He would have loved to have signed up Coutinho and Perisic,” Babbel said. “Only financially it was simply not possible. And then you have to accept that.”
Bavaria does not take purchase option from Perisic and Coutinho
Perisic was on loan from Inter Milan for a sum of five million euros in the 2019/20 season – in the end, Bayern did not want to pay the agreed purchase option of 20 million euros.
It was similar with Coutinho, who was loaned from FC Barcelona for 8.5 million that season – including a purchase option of 120 million euros.
And although Coutinho wanted to stay in Munich and the Catalans would have given the Brazilian in the end for 80 million euros, both transfers did not materialize.
