“Normally you can’t play for the title with this record,” sporting director Tino Wawra summed it up after FC Blau-Weiss Linz’s fourth defeat of the season in the second division against St. Pölten (0-1).
Once again, the Linzers were the better team – and again could not convert the superiority into goals. “We don’t manage to get the game going on our side. Then you just have to take a draw with you,” says Wawra, addressing the bitter goal conceded in injury time.
Luckily, the competitors aren’t really in shape yet either. “The only positive thing is that not much has happened in the table.” The club remains calm despite the untitled record. Wawra: “We certainly don’t have a coaching discussion. But we shouldn’t allow ourselves too many defeats before the winter break.” During the international break, the senses should be sharpened again – among other things with a friendly on Thursday against the German second division club Greuther Fürth.
