Bundesliga: Kahn takes responsibility for Bayern stars

There have been happier visits to the Oktoberfest by FC Bayern, even if in recent years people have often gone to the Oktoberfest with frustration. Oliver Kahn wants to use the international break to work through.

Oliver Kahn wants to use the international break at FC Bayern Munich to thoroughly work through the Bundesliga misery.

“We now have the opportunity to go into the analysis for 14 days, to critically deal with each other, to have many discussions and then to tackle the next part of the season with renewed strength,” said the CEO of the German record champions during the Oktoberfest visit on Sunday.

The Munich side are on course with two wins in the premier class, and after a 1-0 loss at FC Augsburg they are only fifth in the Bundesliga, five points behind leaders Union Berlin. The mood was correspondingly depressed when we went back to the beer tent after the Oktoberfest break caused by the pandemic.

However, the Bayern stars have repeatedly experienced crisis Oktoberfests in recent years. Under coach Niko Kovac, the team also went to the marquee in 2018 and 2019 after defeats. Coach Carlo Ancelotti had to vacate the post a few days after his Oktoberfest visit in 2017. During his tenure, the team always showed up after a draw at the world’s largest folk festival. The last time after a win was under Pep Guardiola in 2015 “Raise the mugs”.

Kahn appeals to the team

“The team must have realized by now at the latest that apart from our own fans there is no one out there who would give us another championship title,” said Kahn after the last ten championships in a row.

After the international break, the Bundesliga continues with a home game against Bayer Leverkusen. This is followed by the league summit at Borussia Dortmund and a home game against SC Freiburg. In the meantime, the Munich team want to book the round of 16 ticket in the Champions League with two games against Viktoria Pilsen.

“It’s not about perseverance slogans. Thank God we’re still relatively early in the season. We always have the strength to get back to the top,” said Kahn.
