The midfielder from RB Leipzig sustained a syndesmosis ligament injury in his left ankle in the game against Borussia Dortmund (3-0) a week ago on Saturday. The injury has so far been treated conservatively, but according to information from the specialist magazine “Kicker”, Laimer is now threatened with an operation and a failure by the end of the year.
It is not yet clear whether or how long Hannes Wolf will be absent. The offensive player from Borussia Mönchengladbach came on as a substitute in the 82nd minute of the 3-0 win over Leipzig last Saturday and had to leave the field four minutes later after a duel with ÖFB friend Xaver Schlager with a shoulder injury.
“It seems as if the shoulder has jumped out. We’ll have to wait and see what the exact diagnosis is and whether the ligaments are injured,” said coach Daniel Farke.
