The work reviews and analyzes the history of the competition from the so-called Cruz del Sur Games (La Paz, Bolivia, in 1978; and Rosario in 1982); until the last edition of the Odesur (Cochabamba, Bolivia, 2018); in addition to discriminating the performance of national athletes in each discipline, with which the information gathered is permanent reference material.

The book also collects and continues the work carried out by the specialized journalist Ernesto Rodríguez III, who died in September 2019 and who was not only one of the backbones of the label but, above all, one of the greatest and most passionate exponents of Olympic journalism.

With Al Arco, Ernesto published the first volumes of the books dedicated to the Games of each Olympic cycle (Odesur, Pan-American Games and Olympic Games), always with the collaboration of the National Sports Secretariat and also the COA. The collection, in a well-deserved tribute, will bear his name.
