Present flag bearers, new clothes and book

For this very special event, Le Coq Sportif designed a collection that took into account three central aspects: the comfort and distinction of our athletes, and the high temperatures that are expected in Asunción on competition days. For this, light clothing and light colors were thought of; In the collection, knitwear predominates in garments made of polyester, with the addition of cotton polo shirts and t-shirts. In the proposal, white takes center stage, synonymous with purity, combined with light blue and oil. The latter was integrated into the color palette to give it dynamism, freshness and youth.

The enormous importance of these XII South American Games is given, among other elements, by the fact that in 18 of the sports that are part of the official program (more than half), places will be disputed for the XIX Pan American Games Santiago de Chile 2023.

On the other hand, the realization of these Games, serves as an opportunity for the launch of an updated edition of the book that collects its history and whose work was initiated by the late journalist Ernesto Rodríguez III, one of the greatest specialists in Olympism in the country.

Published by Ediciones Al Arco and updated by the journalistic team of Argentina Amateur Deporte, the book was officially presented yesterday in the Aula Magna of the Vélez Sarsfield headquarters.

The work reviews and analyzes the history of the competition from the so-called Cruz del Sur Games (La Paz, Bolivia, in 1978; and Rosario in 1982); until the last edition of the Odesur (Cochabamba, Bolivia, 2018); in addition to discriminating the performance of national athletes in each discipline, with which the information gathered is permanent reference material.

The book also collects and continues the work carried out by the specialized journalist Ernesto Rodríguez III, who died in September 2019 and who was not only one of the backbones of the label but, above all, one of the greatest and most passionate exponents of Olympic journalism. With Al Arco, Ernesto Rodríguez published the first volumes of the books dedicated to the Games of each Olympic cycle (Odesur, Pan-American Games and Olympic Games), always with the collaboration of the National Sports Secretariat and also the COA. The collection, in a well-deserved tribute, will bear his name.
