RTL: Cologne broadcaster gets a new logo – this is how it looks

For RTL viewers there will be an unfamiliar image on the TV screen today: Instead of the well-known logo in red-yellow-blue, the station is starting today with a new logo. The face of the Cologne media brand is also changing significantly on other platforms.

One or the other viewer may be puzzled at first if they tune in to one of the RTL channels today or go to the rtl.de Internet portal. Instead of the familiar colors, the station has been using a new logo since today. A special highlight: the logo uses different colors on each platform – according to RTL, the logo should reflect “the diversity of content, stories and people” of the media brand.

Instead of red, yellow and blue, the new RTL logo can shine in completely different colors in the future. For example, three shades of red and violet dominate rtl.de, while the new RTL News logo comes in shades of blue and a shade of red. But that’s not all: RTL employees can even create their own personal RTL logo in their favorite colors – so every business card, every email signature can be designed according to their own preferences.

RTL: New and old logo in comparison

The remaining changes to the logo are somewhat less noticeable compared to this: The letters have become significantly slimmer, the shadow over the colors has completely disappeared, and the logo looks more modern and fresher overall.

In addition to the most well-known appearances on RTL and rtl.de, other TV channels will also receive the redesigned and uniform logo: the specialty channels RTL Crime, RTL Passion and RTL Living will also be broadcast in the new on-air design. The station previously known as RTLplus will be renamed RTLup in the future and will also shine in a new design. The renaming is intended to pave the way for a new name for the streaming portal TVNow. The streaming service will operate under the new name RTL + from November 3, 2021. The news offer and the TV and streaming offer are already more closely linked on the redesigned RTL.de website.
