BVB reaps shit storm for Champions League jersey at Youth League game

The new jersey design was not well received by BVB fans in advance. Now everything looks like the dress is official.

BVB has received a shit storm from its fans because of the apparently now official Champions League jersey. Dortmund’s U19 team played against Besiktas in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday wearing a shirt without the club crest.

Dortmund’s neon yellow cup jersey was leaked at the beginning of May. At that time, BVB reacted in a statement to the anger of the fans because of the missing logo and the large lettering soothingly and claimed that the published images did not correspond to the final design of the CL jersey.

“Dear BVB fans, your criticism of the cup jersey for the new season has been received. The leaked jersey doesn’t look what it will look like. So please be patient,” said the Dortmund team via Twitterwith.

But now it appears from the U19 Youth League jerseys that there have been no changes to the version of the jersey that was leaked in May. Accordingly, the BVB fans felt betrayed by their own club.

“A few weeks ago, BVB reacted to the fan criticism of the leaked jersey and assured them that it wasn’t the right jersey. The BVB-U19 are currently playing with exactly the jersey. How much can you kid your fans? BVB: yes!” wrote, for example, Stefan Döring, sports editor for the Rheinische Post, via Twitter. Another user was also angry: “How can you bow to a supplier like that?”

BVB jersey leak: fans criticize “abnormal design”

BVB had already received a loud and negative fan response on Tuesday after the jersey appeared in the Indian Puma online shop. Under the screenshot that the Ruhr news spread on Twitter, negative comments on the design of the jersey accumulated: Whether “amateurs”, “perverse design”, “absolute insolence”, “flea market goods” or “ugly” – only a few posts were approving. The jersey was removed from the online shop only a little later.

The much-criticized design had at least no negative sporting influence on the U19’s youth league opener: The Dortmund juniors won their away game at Besiktas in the afternoon 3-2.
