At SV Traun there is a lot of rumbling. On Friday in the Landesliga-Ost guest game against Admira Linz (0:5) ten other players played than in the previous week, apart from goalkeeper Cristian Demsa. The reason: a boycott of many Traun players who are not satisfied with coach Markus Erbschwendtner.
The boycotting players gathered in the grandstand at Bachlberg and watched the game from the outside. “This week will show whether the next game will also be boycotted and how things will continue,” says Traun defender Marin Pervan, who did not want to comment further on the situation.
There was no comment at all from coach Erbschwendtner and the club officials around chairman Gerhard Hackl and sports director Daniel Krestel: They were at the diving station throughout the weekend and could not be reached. However, players can hear that if the 40-year-old coach stays, the kickers will continue to strike. Erbschwendtner is said to have thrown a few kickers out the door – the ties between the coach and the team, which have been tense for a long time, should now finally be cut.
“If things continue like this, then of course it’s not good for the league,” says Admiras Stefan Kuranda, a trainer in the league competition. “Traun was always an opponent against whom you always had to invest everything to score. I hope that against us it was something unique.”
