The goals of the team led by Fernando Gago were converted by Johan Carbonero and Enzo Copetti, 20 and 22 minutes into the second half, respectively.
With this victory, Racing adds 47 points -with two games left to play- to be the only escort for Boca, which has 48 and three games ahead.
Colón was cut short, with the loss against Racing, a streak of three consecutive victories, since the arrival of the Uruguayan Marcelo Saralegui as coach.

The first half was back and forth, with rhythm and dynamics. Good Racing with the ball, based on Vecchio’s fine touch and Miranda and Moreno’s dominance of the midfield, plus some good incursions by Carbonero, with Copetti pivoting between the red and black center-backs, well marked by Garcés.
Rojas had it with a shot from inside the area that went near the far post by goalkeeper Chicco, and another by Miranda that the “sabalero” goalkeeper covered well.
Colón, more pragmatic and with less transfer, based on the precision of “Pulga” Rodríguez to play first, looked for several passes that “Wanchope” Ábila failed to take advantage of on two occasions.
Rojas, neglected by Colón’s defense, had another one in his role as a right-wing midfielder in favor of his left leg, which is known for its good punch. And towards the end of the stage, a good combination between Rojas and Carbonero could not be finished well by the Colombian attacker, when Vecchio was no longer on the court, affected by an injury.
In the second half, Racing came out willing to tip the scales and did so with a clear dominance from the positional point of view, with possession of the ball and sustained attacks.
At 20m, a quick counterattack allowed Gago’s team to open the scoring, after an excellent long pass by Piovi so that Carbonero beat the red and black defense with his pique and scored the first goal. And two minutes later, a tight corner sent by Rojas was combed by Moreno and Copetti defined without problems at the far post.
The departure of “Flea” Rodríguez, which caused anger to the Tucuman player, left Colón without the necessary football contribution and he almost never returned to reach the goal of Arias in danger, without the contribution of Bernardi or Pierotti to elaborate game. The defeat, despite the good first half he played, was a consequence of having lowered the pace and intentions in the final stage.
The “Academy” controlled the game until the end, undoubtedly justified the victory and continues in the fight to reach the title as DT Gago and Copetti promised dates ago. On the next day he will visit Lanús and on Sunday 23 he will receive River at the Cilindro de Avellaneda, waiting for a setback from Boca.
