Löw had already announced his departure after 15 years before the European Championship.

The 61-year-old certainly imagined the end of his time with the national team differently. The national coach was correspondingly depressed after the departure. The national coach gave a short farewell speech in the team quarters in Herzogenaurach, said Gosens.

“20 to 25 minutes of dead silence” after the EM-off

Löw said that he was “deeply disappointed” with the performance at the European Championships. He also spoke of the highs and lows that made up the sport. In each case the sting is deep after excretion. Löw thanked his team for their trust as well as for their passion and commitment.

Gosens also spoke about the mood in the DFB dressing room immediately after the defeat against England. “20 to 25 minutes of dead silence” would have reigned after the final whistle, said the left-back of the Italian club Atalanta Bergamo: “In any case, it was as quiet as a mouse. Robin Gosens is still nibbling on the defeat

Gosens had shown an extremely strong performance in the second group game against Portugal with one goal and two assists. The game was his “career highlight so far”, he said at Sport 1: “I will remember it forever. I will tell my children and grandchildren about it.”

At the EM, Gosens should have recommended himself to rebuild the national team under Löw’s successor Hansi Flick. The 26-year-old is still frustrated by the poor German performance: “I haven’t digested it yet. It still hurts badly. It will take a few days, if not weeks, because it’s unbelievable and it is incredibly bitter to be eliminated in the round of 16, even though you have actually planned a lot more. ”
