Chelsea FC: Will Thomas Tuchel get a goalkeeper from Germany?

Chelsea is apparently looking for a new number two and has found it at Werder Bremen.

The English top club Chelsea are considering signing Werder Bremen goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka. That reports the Deichstube. Accordingly, blues advisor Petr Cech suggested to the Champions League winner an obligation of his Czech compatriot.

At Chelsea something should happen in the goalkeeping position this summer, as veteran Willy Caballero leaves the club on a free transfer. And Kepa Arrizabalaga, who lost his regular place in the preseason to Edouard Mendy, is likely to be increasingly dissatisfied with his role as number two and could seek a change.

Chelsea: Pavlenka is under contract with Werder until 2022

Pavlenka would then be the new Mendy representative. The Czech is still under contract in Bremen until 2022, but is considered a sales candidate for the financially troubled Hanseatic League.

Pavlenka recently emphasized several times that even after relegation from the Bundesliga, he should not necessarily aim for a transfer. In addition, it is classified as questionable whether the 29-year-old would be satisfied with the role of number two in the long run.

According to picture Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Burnley FC also show interest in Pavlenka. The possible transfer fee is estimated at three million euros.

The 14-time national player of the Czech Republic, who missed participation in the current European Championship due to a back injury, moved from Slavia Prague to Werder in 2017 for three million euros. Since then, he has played 155 competitive games for SVW.
