For a long time it was unclear whether Vincent Kriechmayr would start in the giant slalom in Sölden. The Gramastettner made it dependent on his training performance in the technical discipline.
He will start, was confirmed on Wednesday. The 31-year-old appears in the eight-strong men’s squad for Sunday. Among them are: Thomas Dorner, Manuel Feller, Patrick Feurstein, Raphael Haaser, Matthias Mayer, Dominik Raschner and Marco Schwarz.
If you want to win the overall World Cup as a speed specialist, giant slalom starts are almost a must. Last year Kriechmayr finished the race for the big crystal ball in fifth place.
In the eleven-strong women’s squad for Sölden, Elisa Mörzinger also appears as an Upper Austrian. Nina Astner, Stephanie Brunner, Magdalena Egger, Franziska Gritsch, Ricarda Haaser, Katharina Huber, Magdalena Kappaurer, Katharina Liensberger, Ramona Siebenhofer and Katharina Truppe complete the team.
