Austria’s handbikers have shown top performances worldwide in recent years. Above all Paralympics winner Walter Ablinger from Rainbach near Schärding and European champion Thomas Frühwirth from Styria. In order to give all athletes with physical disabilities a large sporting stage in the state capital, Ascendor is again this year the main sponsor of the “Ascendor Handbike Half Marathon” at the 20th Linz Danube Marathon.
The family company from Niederwaldkirchen is internationally successful as a producer of lift systems. “It is important to us to support disabled sports. These achievements cannot be appreciated highly enough,” says managing partner Maximilian Priglinger. On Sunday, October 23, many handbikers from home and abroad will be on their way 20.95 kilometers through Linz. “It is always fascinating for us to see the top performances that people with physical disabilities can achieve. You give people with a similar fate great hope,” says Ascendor Managing Director Erwin Roither. The start of the marathon day is at 8 a.m. The day after tomorrow, the handbikers will be the first athletes to race at full speed over the Linz motorway bridge.
