Women’s soccer players demanded equal conditions after the death of Juliana Gómez

“We can never again allow the clubs to continue without managing the necessary transport to present us on each visiting date. We demand safe, adequate and legal transfers. Before each game that we have to attend, we deal with the uncertainty of transferring the campus”the players and their families said in a document.

And they add that they are not guaranteed lodging either when they go to other provinces at the same time that they demand “spaces for concentration and rest and food prior to each game”.

“These are issues, which should not represent a concern for us”they underlined.

Between the different demands to the clubs in general and to the AFA in particular, the players mentioned the apathy on the part of the clubs in training “where they are not provided with the basic resources to carry out soccer practice, not only adequate fields, but spaces with resources and tools that facilitate physical preparation, such as balls, weights, mats, elastic bands, bibs.”

In addition, they mentioned the need for physical and psychological assistance, with a medical staff.

“We players need food plans that are appropriate to our needs as high-performance athletes and suitable support in sports practice to develop in the safest and most conscious way possible”they specified.

They also demanded the recognition of “importance to our mental health, day by day we face multiple concerns, demands, and pressures, which should be contained in some space that provides us with psychological care”,

Today we came to demand equal conditions because it cannot be that by playing in category ‘C’ we do not have the same conditions as category A players. We want that they don’t make us invisible, that they don’t abandon us because that’s how we feel”he remarked.

“From the Club there was no call regarding what happened with Juliana. On the contrary, the club harmed us. We are united and we will continue to support the colleagues who are still hospitalized like Aldana. Taty was discharged on Saturday, but he still needs a lot of support from his family and from us.”he added.
