French runners-up Paris Saint-Germain will have to do without superstar Lionel Messi in the upcoming Ligue 1 game against FC Metz. The newcomer from FC Barcelona is suffering from a knee injury and will not be able to play. PSG officially announced this on Tuesday.

Messi is suffering from a bone contusion on his left knee. The Argentine is to be examined again in 48 hours. Sergio Ramos will also not be part of the game against Metz, the central defender is only completing an individual program due to the aftermath of an injury.

Lionel Messi: Change Theater with Mauricio Pochettino

Last Sunday, Messi made headlines when he refused to shake hands with coach Mauricio Pochettino when he was substituted for Olympique Lyon (2-1). Pochettino then made it clear: “We are here to make decisions. Whether people like it or not.”

Messi has been struggling to adjust since his spectacular transfer from Barca to Seine this summer. In three competitive games for his new club, the six-time world footballer has so far been without a hit or assist.
