Danish soccer star Eriksen’s first selfie after breaking down with a fan

That must have been a happy moment for 11-year-old Björn Bindzus: At the Danish Tidvilde Strand, around 60 kilometers from Copenhagen, he met a very famous football player, the Danish star Christian Eriksen. That caused the shock moment of the European Championship 2021: Eriksen had been during the European Championship preliminary round match between Denmark and Finland (0: 1) shortly before the end of the first half. He was taken to a hospital that evening, where, according to the Danish Association, his condition stabilized. The game was resumed, which caused a lot of criticism.

The snapshot of Christian Eriksen and the young fan is the first since the hospital stay after his collapse. The 11-year-old posted the picture on his Instagram channel and wrote: “I’m lucky with the man who is most talked about.”

In the photo you can see Eriksen in shorts with a white shirt and black baseball cap, he is smiling. “I was nervous and couldn’t utter a word,” said Björn Bindzus of the BT newspaper about the encounter with the professional footballer. He was out with his girlfriend and immediately agreed. “He looked healthy and fresh, that was really nice to see,” said the soccer fan happily.

The last time Eriksen had spoken in person from the hospital. In an Instagram post, the 29-year-old wrote: “Thank you very much for your lovely and great greetings and messages from all over the world. That means a lot to me and my family.” The message also included a photo of Eriksen smiling and thumbs up in his hospital bed. After the shock moment on the field, the football world could breathe a sigh of relief after this news.
