Bundesliga soccer team SV Guntamatic Ried went home from Lustenau yesterday with a 0-0 draw. For coach Christian Heinle it was a real wedding gift even without a win. “Of course you hope for more after three wins in a row. But you also need an opponent – and Lustenau played a really good game. That’s why I’m absolutely satisfied with the point,” said the coach yesterday after the draw against die Vorarlberger without a win in eight games. Heinle only arrived on the day of the match after he had married his Lisa in a church in Utzenaich on Saturday.
“Lustenau surprised us at the beginning with the basic formation,” admitted Heinle, who reacted after 20 minutes. When Oliver Kragl was ordered back from midfield to defense and they switched to a five-man defense, things got better. However, there were hardly any great chances for the Lustenau team before the break. With Diaby’s alleged 0:1 after 30 minutes it was clear that referee Florian Jäger would call it a foul.
After an hour, Heinle then brought forward Seifedin Chabbi into play, who almost gave the coach the perfect gift at the end. He appeared all by himself in the 75th minute in front of Lustenau goalkeeper Domenik Schierl. But his shot bounced off the post and onto the field. It would have been cheesy if Chabbi had scored against the club for which he had 22 goals and 10 assists in 77 league games. “I’m sorry for the team that the ball hit the post, I have to do it. Then the game would have been over.” Nevertheless, Chabbi was the plus point in the Rieder game. “Everyone knows that you can play better than in the first half. The second half was fine, we created enough chances,” analyzed the striker after the game.
Against the sports club in the cup
It could have been worse for Ried in the ÖFB Cup quarter-finals: With the away game at Wiener Sport-Club, the only remaining non-Bundesliga team was drawn. In the round of 16, the regional league kicked out Wiener Austria with a gala performance at 3:1.
