The list of interested parties for the contractless Lionel Messi is long. Now the officially worst team in the world joins.
Ibis Sport Club, the worst team in the world from Brazil, has submitted a contract offer to Lionel Messi via social media. The Brazilians are thus one of numerous teams vying for the currently contractless and therefore clubless Argentine – but in a not very serious way.
Ibis offered Messi a 15-year contract, but it will only come into effect if the ex-world footballer swears beforehand that Pele is better than Diego Maradona. Should the team win the championship, their contract will be terminated immediately. Messi would also have to do without his usual jersey number ten, because the current ten Mauro Shampoo is allowed to keep it.
Overtime most likely Messi option at Barca
It is unlikely that Ibis will win a title with Messi themselves: The Brazilians secured an entry in the Guiness Book of Records with a winless series that lasted three years and eleven months and can call themselves the worst team in the world.
Messi’s contract with FC Barcelona expired at the end of June. Overtime with the Catalans is still the most likely option for him, even if other clubs are after him. However, the best chances are not given to Ibis SC, but to PSG and Man City.
