FC Bayern Munich: Benjamin Pavard is said to be hoping for a new role

2018 world champion Benjamin Pavard is the traditional right-back of FC Bayern Munich. But he would like to play somewhere else.

Defender Benjamin Pavard (25) from FC Bayern Munich is apparently not entirely satisfied with his role as the right defender of the German record champions. This reports the tz in the person of Philipp Kessler.

Accordingly, the French should see himself in the defense headquarters of FC Bayern in the future, also because he simply feels more comfortable there. Since his move to FC Bayern in summer 2019, the 2018 world champion has stuck to the right back through constant performances and, among other things, has made it possible for Joshua Kimmich to move into midfield.

FC Bayern: Strong competition for Pavard in central defense

Before that, Pavard had mostly played the role of the right central defender in Stuttgart and was also convincing there. In Munich, however, with Pavard’s three compatriots Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernandez and Tanguy Nianzou as well as DFB national player Niklas Süle, four players are planned for the headquarters. In addition, the FCB shows information from Goal and SPOX also interested in Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger. On the other hand, Pavard is one of three options from Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann on the right, but the Frenchman is considered to be set ahead of youngsters Josip Stanisic and Bourna Sarr.

Pavard had missed a large part of the preparation after the European Championship vacation and an ankle injury and was therefore not given any playing time in the first competitive games. At the game in Leipzig, the 25-year-old finally celebrated his season debut before starting on the right in Barcelona and again just sitting on the bench against Bochum.
