“We don’t pay 18.60!” Bayern fans outraged by public transport ticket

The transport companies in Munich make themselves unpopular because they increase a ticket price – and now want a very special amount.

The Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV) has increased its ticket prices and has chosen a price that is a thorn in the side of most FC Bayern Munich fans. Some FCB supporters are now drawing conclusions.

From December, the IsarCard weekly ticket for Zone M in Munich (or for two zones) costs exactly 18.60 euros. The MVV increased its price by 80 cents – but caused outrage with the number. Because 18.60 is very reminiscent of the FCB city rivals TSV 1860 Munich.

“That is of course an amount that one does not like to pay – both because of the increase and for ideational reasons,” said Tobias Hess from the Red Munichs 89 fan club Munich Mercury. Some other Bayern fans even carry this ideology into everyday life.

Verkehrsbetriebe: “No thinking about changing the price”

“If something costs 18.60 euros, I always pay a different amount on principle,” says Wolfgang Bauer from the Farmer and Friends Bayern Power fan club. “I take the subway to work every day. I wouldn’t buy a ticket for 18.60 euros – as a matter of principle.”

Another point of criticism, apart from the “forbidden” number, is the price increase in general. “Everyone is upset, one should live more ecologically and then public transport becomes more expensive,” explains Norbert Walther, chairman of the Backstage Red Hearts: In addition, the arena is far outside, and getting there by public transport is “catastrophic”.

on tzThe MVV informed the request that no complaints had been received from fans so far. Also: “There are no plans to change the price.” The increase has been a done deal since Friday.
