Throughout his life, the “Ten” repeatedly visited the homeland of his parents and older brothers to travel the delta of the Corrientes and Paraná rivers by boat. “And always much more than that, because there was never a lack of a soccer ‘picadito’, sometimes in leather and even in legs,” he was able to tell Télam back in 2020, a few days after the surprising death of Diego, his fishing guide Jose Gutierrez.
Mayor Benítez informed that next December the works of the waterfront that will receive the name of Maradona will be finished. “And this Sunday the 30th, on Diego’s birthday, we are going to inaugurate a monolith and discover a plaque where his parents’ house was,” he advanced.
“The waterfront work is in full execution and in its final stage. With resources from the Argentina Hace Plan, an investment of 100 million pesos was made. It consists of trails, landscaping, recreational games, LED lighting and the defense wall of The shore”. The construction of a sculpture in honor of “Ten” is also projected.
“It is an honor for us, it is a tribute to the best soccer player of all time, for all the joy he gave to Argentines,” said the Mayor.
