In a few weeks, the soccer World Cup will start in Qatar. National coach Hansi Flick on his self-image as a team player, the difficult search for a center forward and his leading players for the World Cup tournament.
From whom Hansi Flick expects leadership in Qatar and what he thinks about a nomination of Niclas Füllkrug
Mr. Flick, the World Cup in Qatar begins in just under three weeks. It’s your first major tournament as a head coach. Let’s talk about the sporty side: Do you already feel something like a World Cup mood?
I’m looking forward to starting soon. On November 14th we fly to Oman for a test match, three days later we continue to Qatar. Every day, every training session up until our first World Cup game against Japan is well planned. Exercises, learning goals, who does what – everything is already fixed and noted.
What’s on your notes?
Ha, you’d like to know. (laughs)
