The youngest coach in the House of Commons

His friends play in the team in which Marc Hofstätter is active as a coach: The 14-year-old from Michaelnbach is probably the youngest coach in Upper Austria’s lower house. Hofstätter gains his first experience as a coach with the SV Ried U14 youth team. “He’s allowed to do everything from training planning to execution,” says Ried’s U14 main coach Alexander Fuchs about his extraordinarily young assistant coach.

At a tournament in Italy, Fuchs noticed his youngster’s interest in being a coach. “At the time I was looking for an assistant coach, Marc is committed and goal-oriented. That’s how everything turned out.”

His apprentice has no regrets about becoming a coach: “Of course I also want to play football on the side, but I can imagine just being a coach later on. I like celebrating success as a team.”

In autumn he played a successful one-two: In the end he was even able to celebrate the autumn championship title in the regional league as a kicker (five appearances) and coach.

Despite his young age, he works well with his actual teammates: “My teammates respect me, there are no problems.” When asked about his role model, a real Rieder comes through: “Oliver Glasner,” says Hofstätter with a smile. He already has one title ahead of the Europa League winner at the age of 14.
